Nelson Mandela's famous statue outside the Groot Drakenstein Prison in the Winelands
For those interested in history and the World Famous Icon Nelson Mandela
Be photographed next to his life-sized statue in front of the Groot Drakenstein Prison, the exact spot where he walked out as a free man at 3pm on 11 February 1990.
Nelson Mandela is known as one of the greatest Statesmen in modern times. He spent 27 years in prison, fighting the unjust system of Apartheid. He ended what he called his Long Walk to Freedom from this prison in the Winelands, more than 30 years ago.
It marked the turning point in South Africa’s history and began a new era of democracy, freedom and reconciliation in South Africa.
